Conservatory Faculty Sylvia Roux

Sylvia Roux

After graduating from the Sorbonne University (Modern Letters, Paris IV), the Jean Périmony School of Dramatic Art and the CLCF (Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français), Sylvia Roux joined the Delbée Company (directed by Anne Delbée, who directed plays for the Comédie Française) in 2003. Since her career began, in 1999, she has been in several theatrical productions, including Antigone (Sophocles), Oedipus The King (Sophocles), The Miracle Worker (William Gibson), A Midsummer Night's Dream (William Shakespeare),The Cid (Pierre Corneille), Les Trompettes de la Mort (Tilly) (alongside Annie Chaplin, whose husband, Jacques Auxenel directed) among others. She has also adapted several plays (33 Variations by Moises Kauffman..) and is a private coach for actors.

In 2002, she starts directing plays, and still does so to this day (at Lucernaire Theater, the Palais des Glaces (Shakespeare – Le Défi), the Avignon Festival, and on tour). In an effort to pass on her knowledge to aspiring actors, and despite her heavy work schedule, she still finds the time to teach (She has been in charge of actor directing the Jean Périmony School since 2006), which has become as much a passion for her as acting itself.

She has held theater workshops at the Maison de la Légion D'Honneur,  many stages in several conservatories, and was in charge of the drama section at the “Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture” d’Argenteuil (Youth and Culture Center) for nine years. Moreover, Sylvia created «Roller Comédie» in 2001, which is a theater workshop for teenagers.

Her wish is to pass on french culture, regardless of age or level (professional or amateur). What matters is the will to learn, and fondness for the subject, and she finds that the Promenade Playhouse Conservatory is the perfect place to do so.
