TOM CLARK, has been a stand-up comedian for fourteen years and actually began his career by taking a comedy class in his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tom has performed all across the country from New York to Los Angeles and around the world, including Cape Town, South Africa. His credits include Comedy Central's Premium Blend, New Faces at The Montreal Comedy Festival, CBS's Late Late Show, NBC's Last Comic Standing and he will soon be appearing in "The Wish List" a made for TV movie on the Hallmark Channel. Tom has studied improv and sketch with Second City in Chicago, The Groundlings and ComedySportz.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
This stand-up comedy class series has a strong emphasis on writing and stage performance. Classes will focus on members performing their material in front of the class and becoming more comfortable on stage using various improv exercises. Students will be expected to write material outside of class based on exercises provided, and to listen to and watch some of the legends of comedy. Students will develop five minutes of material in preparation for a performance in front of friends and family in the final week. Some experience with stage performance is preferred, but not mandatory.
The Promenade Playhouse & Conservatory is a Santa Monica based Acting, Screenwriting and Directing school that serves artists from Los Angeles, Hollywood, and throughout California. The Conservatory offers acting, screenwriting, directing, and improv comedy classes. It is a well-respected school that serves both local and international students. International students can also take English As A Second Language classes (ESL), and may qualify for a federal F1 Visa. Instructors include Natalia Lazarus, Syd Field, Matt Moore, Sally Kirkland, and several other celebrity teachers and Hollywood Casting Directors. Alumni include Ken Jeong, Teresa Ruiz and Leslie Garza. Acting techniques include Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Sanford Meisner, and Michael Chekhov. The Playhouse is home to 3rd Street Comedy and the Promenade Players theatre company. The Promenade Playhouse also offers theatre rental, stage rental, screening rooms, and rehearsal space.
