
Advanced Acting 201
(150 HRS) 12.5 HOURS PER WEEK
This program is comprised of advanced work dealing in depth with Script Analysis, Character Development, and the use of Imagery to connect with emotions and Body Language.
With more advanced text, including the Spoon River Anthology, the student’s ability to truthfully create imaginary circumstances is further challenged by delivering a more meaningful interpretation of the text and by applying Adler’s credo: “Within your choice lies your talent.”
This marks the beginning of Character Work and the student embarks on the next level: that of learning the discipline of specific choices in how to pursue objectives and how to execute physical actions.
Voice and Speech 201
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Emphasis is placed on Language & Text as well as creating the images and the feelings in words in order to be able to communicate in a descriptive and poetic manner.
Voice Over Technique
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
A course that allows the actor an exploration into their vocal range through Television Commercials, Radio Spots, Animation, Promos and Narration. The course culminates in the recording of each student’s demo.
Sitcom Technique
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Covers all aspects of sitcoms from the script to the final performance, including understanding what makes the script funny to learning the difference in preparation techniques for booking Under Five and Principle roles. |

Advanced Acting 202A
(75 HRS) 6.5 HOURS PER WEEK
Lee Strasberg’s Sense Memory exercises are used to help the actors develop and explore all their senses, bringing their instruments in tune with their environment and their emotional states. With the Stella Adler Technique, the students master the breakdown of a script into beats and the use of action exercises to understand the characters through line. Lastly, the students are introduced to the Conservatory’s Levels of Acting, where they explore Character Biographies and Imagery of the Text as well as Interlacing the Text into the Body and Primal Feelings of the character.
Voice and Speech 202A
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Expanding the Voice. Work on rhetoric, clarity of thought and communicating complex arguments.
Advanced Commercial Technique
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Every facet of the commercial preparation process covered in detail from different angles of cold reading to the actual self-direction and re-direction involved at commercial auditions. This course includes a 3-week showcase with top industry agents, casting directors and professionals.
On Camera Dynamics
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
A hands on course in front of the camera dealing with different types of camera shots, Studio Location Disciplines, and the Challenge of Continuity. Audition Skills are developed through Cold Reading Exercises, Scenes, Monologues and Screen Tests.
Performance Workshop 202A
(36 HOURS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
At the culmination of the second term, the actors apply what they have learned to a series of scenes that are presented and showcased at full production value. |

Advanced Acting 202B
(75 HRS)
6.5 HOURS PER WEEK
The actors explore the complexities of human relationships, familial ties, the emotional triggers, and the meaning with which these relationships are charged with. As a result the actor creates dramatic situations wherein complex emotions of love, hate, jealousy, forgiveness, guilt, anger, and longing are expressed. The students fine-tune their sense of truth along with their understanding of themselves and what it means to be human in dramatic situations. The work is applied to monologues and advanced classical scenes.
Voice and Speech 202B
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
Character development and acting with the voice applied to Shakespeare and classical monologues.
Advanced On Camera Dynamics
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
A detailed study of every aspect of film and television performance. The class includes the Action Bull’s Eye Breakdown Technique as well as the introduction to Pathology Technique.
Soap Opera Technique
(36 HRS) 3 HOURS PER WEEK
This course introduces the actor to the basics of Soap Opera structure, from the casting session to the screen test to the set. The actor is taught to create a true reality, develop an emotional life and marry the technical with the dramatic.
